Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University, Kashmere Gate, Delhi-110006.

UNIVERSITY CAMPUS

The University is at present located in the former campus of Delhi College of Engineering at Kashmere Gate. This premises has interestingly been the birth place of many prestigious institutions like Delhi College of Engineering, Netaji Subhash Institute of Technology and Indira Gandhi Institute of Technology (formerly Mahila Institute of Technology). Now we are the proud inheritors of this illustrious tradition.

The University plans to develop two model campuses – one in West Delhi (Dwarka) and the other in East Delhi (Surajmal Vihar) for which land has already been acquired and the architects appointed. The designing and pre-construction activities for both of these campuses are in advanced stage and the construction work is likely to commence soon.

Proposed Model of New Campus

The planned architecture of these campuses reflects University’s vision carefully meshed with both antiquity and most modern building innovations. Besides its Schools and residential complexes, UIRC, auditorium, sports and community facilities and aesthetic landscaping form a unique feature. It is hoped that the campuses would find a place in Delhi’s Tourist Map for its aesthetic beauty and imagination.

While IIIT would be set up in the East Campus, all other schools of the University would be housed in the West Campus. There is enough scope for future expansion. In nutshell, both the campuses would be fully compact providing for all the academic, research and recreational endeavors of faculty, students and research scholars.

Salient Features of the New Campus

  • The architect and landscaping provide a cohesive and functional environment, which encourages academic excellence.
  • Vehicle free pedestrian movement, creating clusters enclosed by buildings
  • linkages at different levels provide segregation and at the same time, visual continuity and ease of inter-building circulation.
  • Terraces at different levels to provide for social interaction and to spill out the activities in the high rise buildings
  • Rain water harvesting to recharge the subs oil water.
  • Recycling of sewage and solid waste for use in horticulture
